RAFFAELLO Sanzio (b. 1483, Urbino, d. 1520, Roma) Angel (fragment of the Baronci Altarpiece) 1500-01 Oil on wood, 31 x 27 cm Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo, Brescia The study for the Baronci Altarpiece shows only a single angel, but a partial copy of the altarpiece from the 18th century in Citt� di Castello, and a description written in 1789, prove that pairs of angels stood on either side of the main figure.
